Mastering the Art of the Interview: Eriech Tapia

/

Journalism is more than just reporting facts; it’s about asking the right questions and telling stories that matter. Eriech Tapia, an experienced journalist from Edmond, Oklahoma, brought this message to life for the girls participating in the Be the Voice of Girls project through his “The Art of the Interview” workshop series.

Over the course of four sessions, Eriech taught our girls the fundamentals of journalism, including how to conduct thorough research, craft insightful questions, and maintain an inquisitive mindset. These skills are essential not only in journalism but in all aspects of effective communication and critical thinking.

The impact of these workshops on our participants was profound. They emerged more confident and empowered, ready to engage with the world around them in a more meaningful way. The series culminated in a thrilling “Ask the Mayor” session, where the girls applied their new skills in a live interview with the mayor of Iskenderun, showcasing their ability to engage with community leaders confidently.

Eriech’s dual role as a journalist and a Rotarian underscores his commitment to service and education, making him a perfect fit for our initiative. His workshops have not only equipped our girls with valuable journalistic skills but have also inspired them to be curious, bold, and articulate.
